Pompeii and the Amalfi CoastFor a day tour to Pompeii, we will send a driver to collect you from your hotel early in the morning, arriving at the Pompeii site bright and early. We can collect you at the time you prefer, but 8am is recommended. We will stop for breakfast at a roadside cafè!Our first stop will be at Pompeii archeological site, where you will be guided by a local expert guide through the highlights of this ancient Roman city, buried in 79AD by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Your guide will lead you through the main areas of Pompeii, such as On this tour, you will learn a lot about the lifestyle of citizens of the Ancient Roman Empire - their good and bad habits and their way of life. Your guide will also discuss the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which ended civilisation here, and will show you the poignant plaster casts of the bodies in the positions in which they were discoverd when the site was excavated. The Pompeii site is enormous, and to see it all you would need to spend the whole day there, but your guide can give you a highlights tour for as little as 2 hours. How much you see of the Pompeii site will depend on how much time you decide to spend here. Apart from Pompeii, on this tour you have a wide variety of options for places to visit in the area: We can stop for lunch in one of these towns, where you can dine on fresh seafood while looking down over the Bay of Naples. Of course, it is not possible to do all of the above in a single day!
