Tour Description

Our Rome the City Sunset Walking Tour is the best way to see Rome for the first time!

We recommend this as your first tour upon arrival in the Eternal City, as your Real Rome Tours licenced guide will help you not only orientate yourself with the city, but will also introduce you to Popes, Emperors, artists, architects and other famous and important historical figures, who have, over the span of 2,000 years, helped to shape Rome into the city it is today - and figures you will meet again and again as you visit other museums, churches and archeological sites, both in Rome and in the Vatican City.

From Julius Caesar to Pope Innocent XI, the Emperor Marcus Aurelius to Mussolini, Pope Urban VIII to Bernini and from King Victor Emmanuelle II to the current Prime Minister, Berlusconi - on this sunset tour of the Historic Centre, your licenced guide will provide you with fascinating insight into the history of this amazing city and country, to help you understand how all eras are connected, and how they have each, in turn, contributed to Italy's capital city.

Our guided tours are not about sightseeing, but about history, but of course you see a lot of beautiful buildings, monuments, piazzas and fountains on this tour as well! From the romantic beauty and noise of the Trevi Fountain to the serene atmosphere of Piazza Navona, every step of the way is guaranteed to make you feel like you are in another world.

We begin our Rome the City Sunset Walking Tour at 6.30pm, to take advantage of sunset, to bring you the best views of Rome, and to enjoy the unique views of the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, which are illuminated by night. Also, the city is quieter at night, with less traffic after working hours and - best of all - no bus tour groups to contend with, so this is by far the best time to walk around and enjoy the true, Roman, lifestyle.

Our Rome Sunset Walking Tour is perfect for your first day in the city, as all of the monuments covered are packed into a small area, so there is not too much walking involved.
