Important info
- IDs: If your day trip includes ticketed sites (e.g., Pompeii, Herculaneum, Villa d’Este, Hadrian’s Villa, Catacombs), each visitor must bring original photo ID (passport, driver’s licence, or national ID). First and last names must match the tickets; middle names are not required. No photocopies.
- Pickup & drop-off: Door-to-door service in Rome for driving tours. We’ll confirm your exact pickup time and location once we lock the plan.
- Tickets & timing: Named, timed-reservation tickets are required for many sites. They are non-refundable once purchased and tied to the names you provide.
- “Skip-the-line”: In Rome and beyond, there are no magic queue-jump passes. Entry is by named, timed reservations. You enter at your time; only the routine security check is shared with others.
- Bags: Small day-bags only. Large backpacks/suitcases should stay at your accommodation (or tell us in advance if you need to bring luggage).
- Shoes & water: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a refillable bottle. We’ll plan regular water and restroom breaks.
- Accessibility: Surfaces can be uneven (cobbles, gravel, steps). Catacombs and Villa d’Este include stairs; Pompeii has ancient paving. Tell us any mobility needs and we’ll adapt pacing and routing.
- Lunch: We’ll suggest a relaxed local stop (pay on the day), or keep it quick if you prefer more time at sites.
- Weather & sun: Tours run rain or shine. In summer, bring sun protection; in cooler months, a light layer/umbrella is useful.
- Children & seats: Child seats/boosters available on request and required by law—please tell us ages/approx. weights in advance.
- Traffic & pacing: Driving days can be affected by traffic and road conditions. We build in buffer time and adjust the sequence to keep things smooth.

- Confirm whether named tickets are required and collect the names (first + last) exactly as on the ID you’ll bring.
- Send you the inclusions and total price. When you approve, we secure the tickets/vehicle and confirm everything.
- A day or two before, we’ll send your final meeting details and contact numbers.
We’ll confirm the total price before you pay.
FAQs
Where do pickup and drop-off happen?
Private driver collects you at your accommodation in central Rome and returns you there at the end of the day. If you’d like a different pickup/drop (airport or train station), tell us in advance and we’ll confirm feasibility and any extra time/cost.
What vehicle do we use?
A comfortable, air-conditioned van (NCC) suitable for your party size. Child seats/boosters are available on request—please tell us ages/weights in advance.
How long is each tour?
• Ostia Antica: typically 5–6 hours door-to-door.
• Catacombs & Appian Way (driving tour): about 3.5–4.5 hours.
• Tivoli’s Treasures (Villa d’Este & Hadrian’s Villa): about 8 hours.
• Pompeii & Amalfi Coast: full-day (long day). We recommend an early start; the exact length depends on traffic and how much time you choose on the coast.
How much walking is involved?
All itineraries include walking on uneven surfaces and steps inside the sites (ancient paving, cobbles, stairs). We pace the day for your group and can shorten walks where possible. Let us know mobility considerations in advance.
Are tickets included? Do we “skip the line”?
Entry is by named, timed-reservation tickets where required (e.g., Pompeii, Villa d’Este, Hadrian’s Villa, Catacombs, Ostia). We arrange these for you once your request is accepted. There are no queue-jump passes in Rome/Naples—your timed ticket lets you enter at your slot; everyone passes the quick security check.
For driving tours, do we have a dedicated guide inside the sites?
Yes — you have a private driver and an expert guide with you for the entire tour.
• Tivoli (Villa d’Este & Hadrian’s Villa): your guide is with you door-to-door, provides commentary during the drive, and guides you inside both sites (licensed where required).
• Catacombs & Appian Way: your guide accompanies you throughout. Inside the catacombs the on-site staff deliver the underground commentary (this is required), while your guide handles context before/after, helps with any translation, and leads the Appian Way and all exterior stops.
• Pompeii & Amalfi Coast: a licensed Pompeii specialist guides you inside the ruins; your driver and host guide manage the rest of the day and the coastal portion. If you’d prefer a single guide throughout, ask and we’ll advise what’s permitted/available.
Can we customize the route or extend the day?
Absolutely. Tell us your interests (more time at Pompeii vs. more coastal viewpoints; Villa d’Este gardens vs. longer at Hadrian’s Villa; quiet lanes vs. headline sights). Extra guiding/driving time can be added if feasible.
What about lunch?
Lunch is not included. We’ll suggest reliable options en route (coastal trattoria, a panoramic terrace in Tivoli, or a quick bite near the sites). We’re happy to book a table on request if timing allows.
Is the Pompeii + Amalfi combo realistic in one day?
Yes—with trade-offs. Expect a focused visit to Pompeii plus selected coastal viewpoints or one town stop (traffic and season dependent). If you want lingering time on the coast, consider a very early start or a Pompeii-only day.
What happens in bad weather or heavy traffic?
Tours run rain or shine. We may adjust timings, order of stops, or viewpoints for safety and daylight. Coastal traffic (especially May–September and weekends) can affect the day; we’ll advise the smartest plan.
Can we bring luggage?
Within reason, yes—please tell us in advance so we allocate the right vehicle. Airport/train drops after the tour are possible on request, subject to driving hours and any supplement.
What IDs do we need?
When tickets are required, each visitor must bring original photo ID (passport, driver’s licence, or national ID). First and last names on tickets must match the ID presented.
How do we book and pay?
Send a request for your preferred date and tour. We’ll confirm guide/driver availability and secure any required tickets; once confirmed, we’ll send the payment link. Nothing is charged until we confirm the plan and entries.
Are tips expected?
Tipping in Italy is discretionary. If you feel your guide/driver delivered outstanding service, a small, optional thank-you is appreciated—but it’s never required.
