Colosseum Tour with Skip-The-Line Tickets
Our Best of Rome tour begins at the Colosseum. We take advantage of the early morning shade provided by the Colosseum – as there will be none later on in the day, this is the best time to visit!
By starting early, you are among the first to enter the Colosseum. We have your tickets reserved and ready for your arrival, so no ticket lines for us!
In the Colosseum, your guide will take you to the upper tier, giving you a full view of the main arena where gladiators and animals fought to the death for spectators’ amusement.
Your guide will let you in on all the scandals of Ancient Rome, outline some of the more amazing battles that took place and dispel some popular mistruths along the way!
From there, you’ll head to the center of Roman life in Ancient times – the Roman Forum. Here politics, business, state funerals and military parades all took place and everyday Romans lived their lives. You’ll visit the wall where Cicero and Marc Antony made their greatest speeches to the Roman public. Friends, Romans, Countrymen – lend me your ears!
After exploring the ruins of the temples, triumphal arches and other monuments still standing today, your guide will take you outside for a quick coffee and toilet break, before embarking on the next stage of your tour.
The Pantheon in Rome
The Pantheon is a wonderful example of how the Romans liked to recycle ancient buildings, ensuring no structure would be left to waste and ruin! Originally a pagan temple, built over 1900 years ago, it survived in its original state throughout several earthquakes and fires in Rome during the Middle Ages. Today it is a venerated Catholic Church. This mystical building hides many architectural marvels your guide will help you understand and appreciate.
The Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps
Bringing you to a more “recently” constructed iconic Roman structure – no Rome full day tour is complete without a visit to it – the Trevi Fountain. You will have seen this beautiful and romantic fountain in so many movies from the golden age of Hollywood and Italian cinema – now throw a coin in to ensure you will return to see the Eternal City again!
From here, you’ll head to the Spanish Steps (but you don’t have to climb them, don’t worry!). This area – Piazza di Spagna – was associated with the Spanish contingent in Rome during Medieval times and is home to a Bernini fountain and a Baroque church in addition to the infamous Spanish Steps.
This is where your tour ends – just in time for lunch in one of the many fancy eateries close by (or ask your guide for recommendations on nice places at “normal” prices within walking distance). You can also choose to climb the 138 steps of the Spanish Steps, if you want to burn some calories to make room first!
This tour is not suitable for cruise arrivals. It is not possible to join the group tour within the time frame that you will have in Rome. Please see our Cruise Excursions Page for options created specifically for cruise ship arrivals.
