Colosseum Underground Tour Request
Colosseum Underground access is limited and request-based. We check official ticket availability before confirming the tour, and if we cannot confirm your preferred date through Real Rome Tours, there may still be another route through one of the licensed guides we work with regularly.

Before you request Underground
Underground access is released through specific official ticket channels and is more limited than standard Colosseum entry. Because of this, Underground requests need to be checked individually before they can be confirmed.
- We check what is available for your date
- If Underground access is available, we confirm the tour and proceed
- If it is not available through Real Rome Tours, we can explain the best next step — including possible guide-only availability or Arena access as an alternative
Underground access is limited, but there may be more than one route
Colosseum Underground tickets are limited and issued through different official channels. Real Rome Tours can check availability through its agency allocation, but licensed guides may also have access to separate guide-only ticket channels.
If we cannot confirm your preferred date through Real Rome Tours, one of the licensed guides we work with regularly may still be able to check availability directly.
Gerard, an Irish licensed tour guide in Rome, accepts direct private Ancient Rome tour requests through his personal booking page. These requests are still subject to official ticket availability and are confirmed only if the required tickets can be secured.
If Underground is not available
If Underground access is not available for your date, Arena Floor access is often the closest alternative. It still gives you the chance to stand inside the Colosseum on the reconstructed arena floor, and it is often easier to confirm than Underground.
What this tour includes
- Colosseum Underground (Hypogeum) access, subject to confirmation
- Arena Floor access

The tour lasts approximately 3 hours. The exact route inside the Colosseum depends on the confirmed Underground ticket time and official visitor flow on the day.
